Meeting #12 Megafauna tracking and suturing workshop

We will start the meeting off in our normal meeting room with a talk from Dr. Nico Lubitz about the different technologies used to track marine animals and what types of questions can be answered with tagging and tracking studies.

We will participated in a hands-on suturing workshop led by Nico. Suturing is a technique that is used when tagging animals with internal acoustic tags. It requires the researcher to create a small incision in the animal, insert the tag, and stitch it back up with sutures.

While it takes years of training and practice to be able to do this on living sharks in the wild, this is a great skill to get some professional training in for your own personal experience and exploration.
